"If you see a yellow arrow around town with a web address on it, chances are you've just encountered one of the most prominent examples of what the 'cognoscenti call the geo-spatial web, the internet overlaid on the real world,' as reported by Ethan Tondras-Whitehill in The New York Times. That Yellow Arrow might be pointing at something interesting or awful, but mostly it is pointing to a future in which we use our mobile phones to get more information about where we are and what, if anything, we should do about it. For example, last fall, mayoral candidates in Copenhagen were invited 'to walk around the South Harbor district and place stickers pointing to neighborhood features. Using text messages, passers-by could retrieve candidates' thoughts by sending a message to the addresses on the stickers, then add their own thoughts as they might add comments to a blog.'"
Interesting summary of a new trend from Reveries, an email newsletter that summarizes marketing trends. The link also leads to a story about Google and the 'tagosphere,' services that let users tag and rate web pages which, in turn, is used to provide a better search capability.
