It took almost three months of late night work but this site finally balances what I can contribute of my time (not much these days with client work) and what has proven useful to visitors of this site (lots of links to low cost and free internet tools and know-how). Tools and Know-How are the two key drivers.
To save my time, I plan to publish at least once a month, either the first or fifteenth of each month. To make this site even more useful, I will organize content into "editions" that collect the best information found between editions. The weblog is still here, now called Headlines, as are the Resources pages. New is the Site Map which shows how I use tags to control the display of content into myriad forms.
What's missing? The email newsletter archive. My plan is to relaunch my email newsletter as a monthly starting no later than mid-June 2005. It will have a do-it-yourself focus with one hands on project and a peek at future editions.
Besides being a free source of useful how-to information, I've also tried to use this website to extend the concept of a weblog from "Look ma I can publish" with entries organized by dates and categories to more traditional ideas of publishing. The goal is to package information into forms highly useful (and actionable) to readers. The traditional weblog form is liberating but it also inhibits me. Hopefully this new version of my website expands the concept of a weblog in a way that helps you use the internet to reach and connect with your customers.
Thanks for reading, as always. Comments and ideas are welcome.
