The Feral Worker Manifesto: Work Free or Die

Posted by TimSlavin at January 6, 2005

"NOT FOR ME the cubicle with its off-beige walls and flickering fluorescents. I run free to the coffeehouse, the beach, the Indian restaurant that has crispy samosas. I keep my desk in the sunny corner of the living room, the cozy nook in the den, the backyard shed, the laundry room, the corner of the garage where the cat used to live but the smell isn't that bad, really, except when it rains."

If you are a consultant, you will find the Feral Worker Manifesto amusing and true to life. Besides the joy of standing at the end of our driveway to put our kids on the bus each morning, and meeting them when they get off the bus in the afternoons, I love being able to run off to lunch with my wife. Since we own our own business, and meet deadlines, no one complains. After what happened September 11, 2001 about 50 miles south of here, I can't imagine living any other way.
