American Airlines' Bad Faith on Privacy

Posted by TimSlavin at April 12, 2004

"First, American is effectively saying here that it's somehow OK for passenger data to make its way to private-company third parties as long as it's laundered through the TSA. Since when is it OK for people not suspected of anything to have military contractors like Lockheed Martin rummaging through their personal information?"

Great piece from journalist Dan Gillmor that includes links to dueling press releases from American and its data processor claiming the other company erred. Scary and sad no one in the US government considers privacy an important issue.
