Welcome back. This week I had more time and fewer crises so there was time to dig out a number of interesting posts. I'd point you to How to Craft Emailed PR Pitches so Business Magazine Editors Respond to Them (note: this article costs money after 3/15/04), World Bank Report Offers Insights On Deploying Open Source Software, Color Schemer Color Matching Software Releases Version 3, and A Group Is Its Own Worst Enemy.
For me personally, the most interesting story was Website Conversion: Lessons From Offline Retailers. One of my favorite jobs was working at Menlo Park Hardware in the San Francisco Bay Area. The owners had years of retail experience selling all sorts of things. They had lots of do's and dont's that made no sense to me except, sure enough, they led to more sales. This article is one of the few that describes in some detail how this retail knowledge might apply online. My favorite is the Butt Brush Factor, the idea that when customers have to brush against other customers in a narrow store aisle they feel rushed and tend to flee.
Thanks again for visiting and reading. Have a good week!
Tim
