Welcome back. I'm still working in sunny and comparatively warm California. When I left Connecticut on Tuesday at 4:45 a.m. it was 14 degrees Fahrenheit with a foot of old snow on the ground. When I landed in San Diego at 10 a.m. local time it was 60 degrees and sunny. God bless California.
Most of my week was spent on the road with intermittent internet connections. The first hotel had flawless connectivity, the second had a connection but I could not retrieve web pages or email. Last night, no connection. Today I wangled time at a relative's house. I get the impression that hotels have been sold internet connectivity on an ad hoc basis. Some hotels get good results, others are at the mercy of sales people. Setting up a secure hotel network cannot be that hard to accomplish and maintain. Or expensive.
In any event, there were a few items worth noting this week, including an annual report full of marketing wisdom collected by Marketing Sherpa. The report is a good way to get the pulse of what worked and did not work last year for a number of marketers, a way to benchmark your own experiences. Are You Prepared? A Blueprint For Effective Incident Management Program had some good detail about emergency IT planning for businesses. MacMentor.org: Helping People Switch From PC to Mac and FTC launches Operation Secure Your Server also were worth noting. On the fun side, I did find a few places where you can see the humorous Super Bowl Ads from last Sunday.
This week I also published another byline, Use Online Surveys To Support Business Decisions: An Interview With Vivek Bhaskaran. It has a good discussion of issues businesses should keep in mind if they use online surveys.
Thanks again for visiting the website. Have a good week!
Tim
