U.S. to Issue Cyber-Threat Warnings
“The federal government today announced a new, centralized system for alerting the country to threats to computer systems, from business and government networks to consumers’ home machines.
The alert system, unveiled by the cybersecurity division of the Department of Homeland Security, will be a clearinghouse of information on hacking, viruses, worms and other forms of cyberterrorism. It will also be a place for consumers to learn about vulnerabilities to their systems, and what to do about them.” Think National Weather Service for the internet. From the Washington Post (free registration required).
The article mentions, but does not link to, the Internet Storm Center, a clearinghouse for internet security issues.
Also, CNN has a better story pulled from the Associated Press feed, no registration required. You can sign up to get email alerts for security issues. However, CNN fails to link to where you can sign up, through links in this press release, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Improves America’s Cyber Security Preparedness–Unveils National Cyber Alert System.
