"U.S. software maker Microsoft said on Tuesday it would continue to offer support to customers who still own versions of its Windows 98 operating system, in a move aimed to sooth developing countries." Support now extends to June 30, 2006 instead of January 16, 2004, in a few days. Windows 95 went EOL (end of life) on January 1, 2003. Most interesting is that the decision is based, in part, on the recent trend of governments adopting open source instead of proprietary Microsoft software.
