"For site developers and site owners, it’s more than worth taking the relatively little amount of time needed to think about a site’s overall structure for the long term and establish a solid root structure. Keep it simple, easy, consider longevity, and consider what will be a URL-friendly approach for site visitors." Some good ideas from Brainstorms and Raves. Includes several good links on the topic.
Perhaps one has to be a linquist, or nuts, but the language people use to name file folders, camel case (smash words into one word, capitalize the first letter of each word within the single word), and programming conventions, all are rich in revealing detail about individuals and how societies perceive, describe, and organize the world. What do Germans name their images folders, for example? Is there a convention or is it pot-luck?
