ReachCustomersOnline.com supports RedWrangler.com subscribers and anyone in search of low cost internet marketing know-how

This turned out to be an odd week. There were some excellent finds but also some strange ones.
It turns out, for example, that if you go to Google and type in the term "miserable failure" the first search result is the US President's bio at the White House website. How? It appears that in late October a group of people decided to create links on their websites with that term linked to that page. Google being blind picked up the links. It is an interesting form of political speech. And very odd since most Google abusers do so to gain economic advantage. It also must be an inside joke since few people would search for that term.
On the useful front, Content Management: Dynamic or batch publishing? is an excellent description of the pros and cons of the three different ways content can be published, and provides the elements of a business case for CMS. Other items worth noting: Inside Spyware: A Guide to Finding, Removing and Preventing Online Pests, How free software is fueling a new kind of patriotism (Spain uses open source in the countryside to empower their citizens and keep them from having to be in the cities), and Which To Use: HTML or XHTML? In addition, Simple Quiz for CSS Standards is a great way to test your knowledge of the nuances of CSS and other markup.
I also published a byline article, How To Conduct An Online Survey and Engage Customers In A Dialogue. The article summarizes a lot of research that I have found useful on the topic. Online surveys can be complicated but few businesses need the precision of a professional research firm. For them, it's enough to know how to phrase and order questions and how to find a low cost vendor.
Just a heads up that next week will be the last email newsletter of 2003. I plan to take off for the holidays from Monday, December 15 to January 5, 2004. I'll be around working on personal projects but don't want the responsibility of maintaining the website.
Thanks for your visits!
Tim
