Tech Law Advisor has an excellent mention of intellectual property issues around the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) trade agreements being negotiated by various countries including the US. Get this: Imprisonment for P2P file sharing (even legitimate uses; means you're presumed guilty), limits to traditional fair use rights, extension of copyright to a minimum of 70 years after creator's death (why bother then to have copyright?), and other lovely proposals from our governments. Money talks these days, common sense walks.
