Microsoft to EU: Don’t Force Us to Be Lousy

“Microsoft said it would be forced to offer European consumers a substandard version of Windows if the European Union makes it rewrite its operating system, sources close to the case said on Thursday.” And pigs fly. With open source alternatives to its cash cow MS Office, as well as competitive pressure from Linux, OS X, and even Lindows, Microsoft can’t afford to dumb down their product to the point of losing market share in a key market.
