"Twin research reports show a broadband revolution in Europe that could push the Net into uncharted territory. First, research house NOP found that the average person in a UK home was spending more time on the Internet (3.5 hours per day) than watching the telly (2.8 hours per day). Plus, 44 percent believed the Net provided better news and entertainment than TV, with 92 percent saying they liked using the Net for finding information. Then, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) predicted that Web advertising would grow by double digits in Western Europe for the first time in three years. PWC pegged the resurgence to the boost in broadband subscribers and the paid-search boom. Plus, the upturn should last for four years, helped by the 2004 Olympics and 2006 World Cup, PWC predicted." One of several excellent stories from the latest Online Publishers Association email newsletter. If you don't know, the OPA newsletter is a digest that collects links from many media outlets on specific stories so you get a richer view.
