"When a company gets people riled up enough with policies and actions that seem aimed at stifling debate about a crucial subject, activists get going in a serious way. That's why Diebold, which makes some disturbingly flawed electronic voting machines, is under serious attack for trying to keep secret information that is, at best, disturbing. Some of it is from internal e-mail, and the company has filed at least several "take down" notices with sites that have posted the material." This is an important issue: if you have electronic voting, how do you handle mundane tasks like upgrades that might impact the accuracy of voting? Diebold is in the middle of a spat about their internal documents on these issues. Includes links. From Dan Gillmor, of the San Jose Mercury News.
