Welcome. This has been a hectic week with two relaunches next week for clients and being hired to write a 45 minute keynote speech due on Halloween. But I did find a few good items this week (see below).
One task I did get completed is to solve as best I could the problem caused by search engines dropping people off on my home page to find content that had disappeared weeks or months before. I relaunched two weeks ago with a redirect script that grabbed the search terms and sent them to my search page. That worked fine until Google crawled the site (600+ emails, 1 per page) and immediately listed archive pages (whoo hooo!). So I shut off my redirect script until this week when I added it to the home page; now if a search engine routes you to my home page, I add a link with big fonts up top that people can click on to search the site. If you want to see the PHP code, here it is.
Apropos of nothing, I did see that the tiger attack in Las Vegas (Siegfried and Roy) was caused by the tiger being distracted by a woman in the front row with big hair. Who knew bouffants are dangerous? And I see in Texas, believe it or not, they're creating a voting district (see final paragraph) specifically for one of the President's oil business buddies to win easily. I wonder if that's in the Neiman Marcus catalog? Life goes on, I guess, even with deadlines.
I'm on the road next week in California but will post since the internet is everywhere! Hope you're doing well.
Tim
