"The new approach is designed to relieve companies of the large initial investment and lengthy installation process required to run their own CRM (for "customer relationship management") systems for managing sales leads, marketing campaigns, customer service requests and other customer issues. Under its new initiative, Siebel will share the monthly fees of $70 per user with IBM, which will run the service from its own data centers. Users need only standard Web browsers -- and a credit card -- to use the service." Decent article from the Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required: sorry). Looks like a viable alternative to Salesforce.com and Upshot.com, the other two competitors in online CRM. eWeek also has a good story this morning that requires no paid subscription.
