Corante: Amateur Hour has an excellent post with alot of links about civic journalism, the recent phenomenon where regular people use low-cost media and tools to publish local news with context. Professional journalists often miss context and choose flash over substance and new stories rather than play out older ongoing stories that might have more impact. Another way the internet has become ingrained into daily life.
