Wi-Fi Sails the High Seas: “For years, mariners like Paul Barkalow had few options for gaining Internet access at sea. Maritime radio and satellite services are pricey. And cell-phone Web connections usually fizzle out eight miles from shore.” About time but the prices are obscene because someone thinks every sailor is a millionaire or a corporation. But this is a key milestone for ubiquitous computing. Wi-Fi in national parks is probably next. From Wired.
