In changing sphere, Dean’s Net fund-raising outdoes Cheney
In changing sphere, Dean’s Net fund-raising outdoes Cheney: “Vice President Dick Cheney got up yesterday morning, boarded Air Force Two and flew to Columbia, S.C., where he rode in a motorcade to a private home, shook hands, and posed for pictures with 150 donors at a luncheon. There he raised $300,000 for the Bush-Cheney reelection committee before flying home. Over four days ending last night, Howard Dean outdid the vice president — without leaving his campaign headquarters in Burlington, Vt.” From Boston Globe. Finally, the U.S. media wakes up to the obvious: the traditional way of funding political campaigns has now been augmented by the internet way. Instead of rubber chicken dinners and sucking up to millionaires, politicians (in any country with significant internet access) can choose to use email and other tools to collect smaller sums from more people for even greater amounts. Makes you wonder what politicians will do with their free time. Maybe talk to the 98% of the population that does not have money? Eat healthier?
