Dean.com

If you subscribe to The New Republic magazine, they have a great article called Dean.com that describes how the Howard Dean presidential campaign actively markets itself to sympathetic webloggers and online communities that meet online and offline. On one level, the article is an interesting explication, a how-to primer. On another level, if you realize that political groups could use the internet to organize a million active members, then do the math and assume each member contributes only $100 USD, you have $100 million dollars for a presidential campaign or issue campaign. $100 USD per member is not much. Then factor in that the current U.S. President plans to raise $200 million the old fashioned way (rich donors, grass roots direct mail).
