False Web Ratings Swing Opinion, Study Says: "Online ratings systems that recommend movies or other products can be manipulated to change people's opinions of what they like, according to a new study by University of Minnesota computer researchers. But the authors warn that while falsified reviews may help sell a product and slant consumers' views in the short term, users will ultimately lose trust in a tainted system."
