Cartel Violates KaZaA’s TOS

It appears that the recent use of instant messaging by the recording industry to send a threatening message to users of the file sharing service KaZaA violated the legal terms of service for KaZaA (exposing RIAA to legal liability). Even more strange, the recording industry association got the idea from opposing lawyers in another lawsuit they’re pursuing, against Verizon. Excellent summary and links from Kevin J. Heller’s Tech Law Advisor weblog.
