“The online marketing landscape has become so complex that cutting through the “noise” is now one of the biggest problems small businesses face. Sorting out WHERE and HOW to spend our limited time and resources is increasingly the challenge.”
From American Express’ Open Forum. The author includes a bulls-eye chart with all the different internet marketing options organized by how she perceives their value.
It’s a great list of possibles for small business marketing online, for example, blogging and posting comments as a way to gain exposure and links back to your business website. Other options like Twitter probably are more limited, useful to certain businesses to gain exposure but not useful for other businesses. I could see a small hardware store, for example, helping people in online forums looking for handyman help, providing exposure to their business by including their site URL in their signature, but don’t see how Twitter would help them.
